Community & Schools Outreach

Teatro Grattacielo is working to increase educational opportunities for our communities, providing arts and music education on a local and global scale. We know that music education is lacking in our schools, and many adults have not been exposed to classical music, opera, literature, or the visual arts. The power that lies within their voices and the history of these art forms have shaped our culture since the beginning of human existence.

We know that music and arts education is important for childhood development as well and increasing creativity from a young age can later promote beneficial habits. Within these presentations and performances, we are presenting opera, classical music, visual arts, and the creative arts to children/youth and community members who may not have access to live performances elsewhere. We understand that there is a lack of affordable opera and live theatre worldwide, and we want to do something to help improve access and belonging within our community.

Teatro Grattacielo’s programming is strategically crafted to ensure that there is a particular eye on innovation, filmography, digitalization, and multimedia arts while ensuring that our casts are always diverse, creating inclusivity.

We work in partnership with:

Project Music, Connecticut (US),

Battery Park City Authority, New York (US)

Philippine Women’s University, Manila (PH),

Montfort Academy, Mount Vernon, New York (US),

Harrison Public Library, Harrison, New York (US),

The Rhodes International Festival, Island of Rhodes (GR), and

The Musica Africa Project (Ghana).

Testimonials

Yesterday was one of the happiest and most joyful days at The Montfort Academy. . . ever! Thank you so much for always thinking of us and for bringing such special guests. And they came to Montfort! Grazie infinite from me, the teachers, and the students. With my love and affection.

Richard Greco, director The Montfort Academy

It was so great to work with Teatro Grattacielo on the costumes for this production [L’Elisir D’Amore]. I really enjoyed this experience very much and it was so great to get some hands-on experience in the costume world since that is what I hope to do in the future.
